Why the layout comes first

Cabinet installation in Brigham City that starts with a level line

Cabinets show every shortcut, so the install lives in the layout. The high point of the floor gets found, a level line goes on the wall, and every box is referenced off it before anything is screwed home.

  • Hung to the room

Walls and floor are checked for plumb and level first. Uppers go up scribed and shimmed to the wall, then bases are set, joined and leveled together as one run.

  • Reveals that read straight

Doors and drawer fronts are adjusted last, so the gaps between them look consistent from one end of the kitchen to the other.

  • Diagnosis on existing cabinets

A door that sits wrong can be the hinge, a box that moved, or a run never scribed to the wall. Working out which one before anything is unscrewed saves the afternoon.

More about why homeowners choose To The T

On a cabinet job, scribing and shimming to the room takes up most of the time, because very few walls and floors are flat enough to take a run of boxes without it.

Tyler came to this work through remodeling, and has taken part in five complete home remodels and the building of two homes from the ground up. Flooring is its own service here, on Flooring Installation in Brigham City.

Cabinets often come with other finish work, like the stained wood cabinets set over the range and over the refrigerator in these photos. That side of it is on Finish Carpentry & Woodworking in Brigham City.

Two different jobs

New cabinet runs and cabinet adjustments for Box Elder and Weber County kitchens

Cabinet work divides into two jobs that look alike and are not. Hanging a new run is layout work: the room gets measured, the high point of the floor is found, and every box comes off one line. Bringing an existing kitchen back into line is diagnostic work, where the question is whether a door sits wrong because of its hinge, because the box moved, or because the run was never scribed in the first place.

Cabinets you bought yourself are fine. Having them on site and unpacked ahead of installation day is what keeps the job to one visit, so access and storage get sorted when it is scheduled.

More about cabinet installation

What the job includes:

  • Base and wall cabinet installation
  • Islands and pantry units
  • Filler strips scribed to the wall
  • Hardware, hinges and drawer slides
  • Door and drawer alignment
  • Toe kick and trim

The sink and appliance connections are not part of it. Plumbing and electrical hookups are outside our scope and need the right trade, and we say that before booking so the kitchen does not sit half-finished while you find one.

Adjust or replace

Signs your cabinets need adjusting or replacing

Cabinet complaints are mostly about doors, and a bad door is more often a hinge problem than a cabinet problem. The exception is water, which changes the answer completely.

  • Doors sit at visibly different heights or angles across a run
  • A door swings open or closed on its own
  • Drawers stick, drop at the front or no longer close fully
  • A cabinet base or side has swollen, softened or delaminated
  • The run has pulled away from the wall or a filler gap has opened

More signs to watch for

Doors out of alignment, worn or sagging hinges and failing drawer slides are adjustable or repairable. A carcass swollen from water damage, or a layout that no longer suits the room, is where replacing the unit makes more sense than adjusting around it.

A swollen sink base usually means a drain or supply line leaked at some point. If it is still leaking, that goes to a plumber first. Once the water is sorted, the damaged box can come out and a new one go in.

A couple of worn hinges or a drawer that drops at the front are small enough to go on a longer list instead of being booked by themselves. Cabinet door hinges show up on punch lists all the time, which is covered on Punch List & Honey-Do Repairs in Brigham City.

How a cabinet install runs

The To The T cabinet installation process

  1. Step : 01

    Send photos and the spec

Photos of the space and the cabinet spec through the estimate form are enough for a ballpark on most jobs.

  2. Step : 02

    Read the walls

Walls and floor are checked for plumb and level, the high point is found, and layout lines go on the wall before any cabinet is lifted.

  3. Step : 03

    Hang and set

Uppers are hung first and scribed to the wall. Bases are set, joined and leveled as one run.

  4. Step : 04

    Adjust and finish

Hardware goes on, doors and drawer fronts are adjusted so the gaps line up, and toe kick and trim finish it.

Provided great services. I was flipping my house and he put the LVP floor, hardwood stairs, cabinets, and trim in. I didn’t love the beam that was in my living room and he provided an alternative look. It’s perfect, I’m obsessed. He has great pricing and will work with you.

FAQs

Cabinet Installation in Brigham City: frequently asked questions

Do you install hardware and adjust the doors on Box Elder and Weber County cabinet jobs?

Yes. Hardware, hinges and getting the doors and drawers to line up are part of the install, not an afterthought.

Can you install cabinets I bought myself in Brigham City?

Yes. Having them on site and unpacked ahead of installation day is what keeps it to one visit.

Do you install cabinets on a house flip or rental in Box Elder or Weber County?

Yes. One customer flipping a house had the LVP floor, hardwood stairs, cabinets and trim put in on the same project, and wrote that the pricing worked for her. Flips and rentals are a good fit because several trades of finish work can come off one list.

Can you adjust or re-hang existing cabinets in Box Elder or Weber County?

Yes. Sagging boxes, loose doors and misaligned hardware on existing cabinets are a common fix.

Can you fix cabinet doors that will not sit straight around Brigham City and Ogden?

Usually. Most misaligned doors are a hinge adjustment or a worn hinge rather than a cabinet problem.

Do you handle the sink and appliance connections on Weber County kitchens?

No. Plumbing and electrical connections are outside our scope and need the right trade. We hang and set the cabinets; the hookups go to them.

Do you install bathroom vanity cabinets in Brigham City homes?

The cabinet, yes: set level, scribed and secured like any other box. The sink, faucet and drain connections are plumbing, which we do not do, so those need a plumber once the vanity is in.

Can you replace a water-damaged sink base cabinet in Box Elder or Weber County?

Yes, once the leak that caused it has been fixed. Swelling and delamination mean water reached the carcass, and at that point a new unit is the honest fix rather than an adjustment.

Is there a minimum for cabinet work in Box Elder or Weber County?

Yes. Anything under two hours carries a minimum charge, and you hear the amount before booking. We do not publish a figure. A few loose doors are a good item to add to a longer list.

Are you licensed to install cabinets in Utah?

Yes. License No: 13021266-5501 (held by Precision Cut Construction LLC), a Utah general contractor license. It can be checked on Utah DOPL's public licensee lookup.
