On one job the old stone tile surround came off a corner fireplace and the wall went up in painted shiplap with a thick stained mantel set level across the corner. Caulking over an open miter is a six month fix at best. Where a joint has moved, cutting it back and re-running the piece is what holds, and we will tell you which one your room needs before starting.
When a length is damaged but the rest is sound, splicing in a matching piece usually beats replacing the run.
